My Most Anticipated Shows of 2023

10) Poker Face - Jan. 26, Peacock
I don't know much about it, other than a woman has the ability to tell when someone is lying. Sounds like a cool premise. Add to it that Rian Johnson is creating it, and I'm in. He'll forever be known as the guy who ruined Star Wars (The Last Jedi was atrocious), but his other projects are quite decent.

9) That '90s Show - Jan. 19, Netflix
That '70s Show is another one of my favorite comedies of all time. Though the show went on one or two seasons too long, I'm happy that the band is getting back together. The trailers have dampened my excitement a bit for That '90s Show; it feels like a sequel show that will focus on Eric and Donna's kids more than the original cast (a la Fuller House), but that's okay. I'd be fine watching one season of Red and Kitty babysitting their grandchildren and yelling them all over again. Plus, I was a kid in the '90s, so I'm expecting the nostalgia plays to work on me.
8) Bel-Aire Season 2 - Feb. 23, Peacock
The reboot/remake formula in Season 1 worked for me, and I'm hoping it continues with that formula by retreading other stories from the original series. I don't want it to diverge too much. Having said that, the writers really need to cut down on the cringe moments and dialogue. I'm also fine with them exploring new ideas, but if they do, I don't want them to get too crazy with it.
7) Last of Us - Jan. 15, HBO Max
One of the best reviewed video games of all time is getting a show adaptation. The story and relationship between the characters drive the game far more than the gameplay, so it's fitting that this story is getting retold from the perspective of a television show. Heck, most of Sony's first-party video games feel more like movies than great games, anyway. A show format of this story interests me far more.
6) Only Murders in the Building Season 3 - Hulu, TBA
The Season 2 finale left a tantalizing preview of what's to come for Season 3. To me, one thing seems certain: this season is going to expand way beyond the walls of their building. It's going to get huge. Which means the stakes will be much bigger. Hopefully the comedy elevates, too.
5) Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 - Amazon Prime, TBA
The final season of one of my all-time favorite shows appears set to deliver a high volume of comedy acts now that Midge may be joining forces with another comedian. Plus, her relationship with Lenny seems to be ready to heat up. Finally!
4) Loki Season 2 - Disney Plus, TBA
The time-travel/multiverse aspects in the finale of the first season showed that Kang is up to no good. It's hard to say what the state of the MCU will be in by the time the show airs, especially since we're getting Ant Man 3 before the show. There may be more setup to go before Loki Season 2 arrives. Plus, it's Loki, one of the MCU's absolute best characters.
3) Ahsoka - Disney Plus, TBA
Of all the shows that have yet to debut in the Star Wars universe, this one shows the most promise by far. We've already seen Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka in Season 2 of The Mandalorian and in Book of Boba Fett. If there truly is something big that everything is building towards in the Star Wars universe, Ahsoka is the most likely show to serve as the catalyst for it.
2) YOU Season 4 - Feb. 9, Netflix
This show continued to top itself in Season 3. I am dying to find out where Joe goes after we last saw him, and I'm curious if his wife, Love, somehow magically survived his murder of her. Then there's the new people and adventures Joe undoubtedly will get mixed up with. One of the best shows going by far, and one of the all-time best shows in the streaming era.
1) Mandalorian Season 3 - Disney Plus, March 1
This upcoming season may have the most focus and the best arcing story of the series so far. The promise of seeing many Mandalorians in what may be a significant battle for their future is exciting beyond anything else in Star Wars at the moment.
Honorable Mentions - The Bad Batch Season 2 (Jan. 15), Skeleton Crew (TBA) - Disney Plus:
A pair of Star Wars animated shows each promise to explore cool pockets of the galaxy far, far away.
Shows beyond 2023 that need to hurry up and get here: Rings of Power Season 2,
Stranger Things Season 5.
