NFL Week 6: Reporters are idiots, but players still give great sound bites

Man, do NFL reporters suck at postgame interviews more and more these days.

Listening to them take an hour to get through one sentence that covers four different topics and doesn't even end with a question is the most embarrassing thing ever. Players and coaches already don't want to talk to these guys, especially Bill Belichick (the biggest jerk to the media in the history of sports), but when reporters doesn't make it clear what they are trying to get the player or coach to comment on, they deserve to get humiliated every time. They had several terrible questions after the Chiefs-Patriots game, but that apparently was consistent throughout the league today.

Big Ben had one of the best comments of the day. The Steelers head to the bye week with a win, but they still have drama going on as Le'Veon Bell is supposed to be returning and presumably taking back his running back spot that James Conner has held down quite nicely in his place. Ben was asked about Conner, and he joked that it was Conner's last game for them this season. Great response to make light of that situation.

Bengals defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick was called for a critical holding penalty that helped determine the ending of that game. During an interview after the game, he simply called the penalty "trash" and said the Bengals still were better than the Steelers even though Pittsburgh got the win. Man, I love it. And you know reporters are going to be dumb enough to try and fuel that when these two teams meet again in the regular-season finale.

I remember hearing Jaguar defensive players chirping before the season about getting a perfect season. They beat up on the Patriots knowing full well they got robbed in New England last year. His interview with reporters afterwards included an average of maybe 2.5 words per sentence. Poor guy, he seems hurt a little bit. Maybe he'll learn to shut up a little more often instead of dishing out unprovoked trash talk. He better not get All-Pro again this year; he doesn't deserve it at this point.

The biggest disappointment of the day was not seeing the LA Rams have to play a snow game. Denver can't even seem to get that right. No way Todd Gurley rushes for more than 200 yards in the snow.

The dumbest thing I saw today was Connor McGregor try to throw a football. I guess he's been an inspiration to the Cowboys today and last week,as they've brought him to their sideline a couple of times. He won't inspiring anyone after that throw.

The second dumbest thing I saw today was the Vikings' dead-arm dance. They all look so retarded.

Most London games are just awful. The league needs to stop scheduling a game there every year. A Seahawks' defender absolutely blasted Amari Cooper in the head with a clear helmet-to-helmet collision. No call. Antonio Brown got clubbed in the head by Cincinnati's Burfict, and no call there, either. I hate referees. They suck at their job.

Brock Osweiler did what? What a performance. After Tannehill is declared inactive with a sprained AC joint, Osweiler handled himself all right, especially considering he had a day's notice that he was starting. Osweiler's throw on the 2-point try was great, though. He finished with 380 yards and three scores, and did most of his damage in the second half when it mattered most. My boy Frank Gore (top 5 favorite Niner of all-time for me) rushed for more than 100 yards today. The old man still getting it done. I'm happy to see the Dolphins playing well. Adam Gase also had a great postgame interview when he expressed his annoyance with answering so many questions about Tannehill's injury.

What could have been the coolest play of the day turned into a bummer when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers nearly pulled off a miracle on the final play of the game against Atlanta. The Bucs made three or four laterals to keep the play alive, then nearly hit Desean Jackson near the sideline inside the 5 yard line. Oh man, if he got a little bit of a cleaner lateral, he very well could've scored. Instead, it goes down as a "so close" moment.

Fun fact I learned today, and other notes:

-There was an overtime game this week, marking a sixth straight week with an OT game to start the season for the first time in NFL history.

-Belichick has tied the record for most consecutive wins against a team that has a better record than his team (11)

-The Titans somehow beat the Eagles in a fantastic overtime thriller two weeks ago. But against the Ravens, the Titans allowed a whopping 11 sacks, one shy of the NFL record. At that point, it isn't so much the Ravens' defense as it a pure ineptitude on the Titans' part. Tennessee has lost two straight games now.

-Adam Thielen is an incredible receiver. I was ONE pick away from taking him in my fantasy draft when a substitute picker took him right in front of me, which was just infuriating. Thielen has the most receptions through the first six games of a season in NFL history, and he's topped 100 yards in every game. Granted, every single offensive number in football today is less meaningful and less difficult to get than ever before (I will bring this up like a cranky old man every week, don't come at me). Still, Thielen is incredible. He's a top 10 receiver, close to top 5.

-Denver is the first team to allow two different rushers to surpass 200 yards rushing in a single season. Gurley did it today. The Jets' Crowell did it last week.
